Pastor's Reflections

Joshua 1: 5b-9 “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I believe that the Lord has brought me to Life Methodist Church, Puchong as a pastor to lead me into my next phase of life in serving Him and to give me new challenges to journey with Him. He will always nudge me to be strong and courageous as I walk with Him and trust in Him. As I look at all the ‘seasoned’ pastors and also some new pastors, I feel that they wear such ‘big’ shoes and asked myself how am I to fit into those shoes? I am sure Joshua felt something like this when he was called by God to take over Moses’ place to lead the Israelites. But I also came to the conclusion that God did not ask me to ‘fit’ into those shoes. I am to wear my own shoes! Why would I want to wear other people’s shoes? As the Lord promised Joshua that he will be with him and will never leave or forsake him, I am convinced that the Lord is saying this to me too. Be strong and courageous.

My prayer to the Lord is that I will be able to grow together with the members of LMCP whether it be spiritual, emotional, intellectual, etc; that we will be able to move together towards where the Lord wants us to be; that our bond and relationship with one another will be made strong because of God’s love for each of us….to dream big and achieve the dream together. What is our dream? Do we have a dream? Will we achieve our dream in our lifetime? It is said that dreams give us energy. They make us enthusiastic and make us move forward to achieve them. The Lord is telling us to “Be strong and courageous”. If we dare to dream, and dream big for ourselves and also LMCP, as long as we trust Him and obey His commands, He will never leave us or forsake us. May God be glorified as we bring our dreams before Him and work towards achieving the dreams.

Be bold and courageous this Christmas season. It is a season of HOPE. Hope for each and everyone in the world because Jesus Christ came to the world to bring salvation to all. Hope for a new beginning with the Lord. We move on with hope in our hearts that the Lord will see us through. Be strong and courageous as we share this hope and God’s love to everyone.

May this Christmas season be a blessed and meaningful season for all.

In-His-Service
Pastor Chang Choy Quin
